Sephora's Kiss For A Cause
The Beauty Bus Foundation is an organization that offers in-home beauty and grooming treatments free of charge to those who are terminally or chronically ill or handicapped as well as their primary caregivers! They're currently serving the Los Angeles area.
I think this is a wonderful organization that encompasses what beauty really is. It's all about feeling beautiful on the inside and out and giving a boost of self-confidence. And to do this for those who are suffering from diseases or impairments is a beautiful gift. Often times medical treatments can change one's physical appearance, and as a result, they mentally and emotionally feel like an outsider or alienated or just not the same person anymore. I think the gift of getting pampered can lift one's spirit as they deal with their illness on a day-to-day basis.
Right now, Sephora has teamed up with Beauty Bus Foundation by holding a"Kiss for a Cause" event (until September 15, 2010). For every red lip product purchased on Sephora's Kiss for a Cause page, Sephora will donate $1!
You know you've always want a red lipstick, why not support a good cause too! :)
You can also donate online at their website The Beauty Bus Foundation

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
Price: $29.00
Where To Find: Sephora (sephora.com) or urbandecay.com
I received this product as a birthday gift (Thanks, Judy!). I've used it pretty regularly during the work week, and I did try it once when I went out to the bars. Overall, it's a really great product. I usually have 14-hour work-school days, and in the hot and humid summers of metropolitan DC, this was probably the best place to test the product's Temperature Control Technology.
While my body still succumbed to the humidity (many days of coming home sweaty and gross in work clothes), this product did keep my makeup in place. For me, the eyeshadow (on the outer edges), eyeliner and foundation on the forehead tend to be the first to melt away (and if I'm out partying, I hardly have any makeup on by the time I reach home), but this spray helped in keeping the makeup in those places intact! There were a few really hot days, however, when I wiped the sweat off my forehead, and I saw the foundation on the tissue/towel. So maybe in 100+ degree weather with a heat index of 70, this product isn't perfect, but I can attest that my makeup is better than without having used it.
Another nice feature is that the spray is practically weightless when sprayed on. Within seconds after spritzing, I don't feel anything at all. It feels like it evaporated or dries up the second it touches the skin. At least you don't feel like you've added another layer to your makeup!
How to apply:
1. Shake it up before you use.
2. Spray an "X" (approx. 2 spritzes) about 6-8 inches away from the face for best overall coverage.

Sweet Deal Tuesday!
If you read the post about eyeliners, you'll realize that you can change your look with just a different color eyeliner. Since there's soo many to choose from, I found this value set from Korres that has a lot of the colors I talked about!
Korres Vitamin E 10-Color Pencil Kit is on sale on Sephora's website. For $32.50 ($160 Value), you get 10 different colors to experiment with. Check it out!

During the summer, I switch my foundation (Make Up Forever Matte Foundation) to a SPF tinted moisturizer. Why? Well, we're more prone to sweat and more exposed to the sun. So a thick photo finish foundation probably isn't the best solution. Because it's so hot and humid (especially in DC), heavier foundations tend to melt with your sweat; and if you've read my bronzer post, you'll see that heavy foundation isn't a good pairing with bronzers. In the summer, it's best to use "lighter" products or to find 2-in-1 products.
Laura Mercier's Foundation Primer is very light. I have combination skin, and this primer works well on my skin. The products has a watery, gel-like formula, so it applies on pretty easily. With all primers, always wait a minute or two for the primer to set in before applying foundation. Depending on your skin type, you might want to try out oil-free or hydrating primers.
Laura Mercier's SPF 20 Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer is great for the summer! Since it's a moisturizer and my skin care line also has a moisturizer, I apply a very small amount of my skin care moisturizer, so that my face isn't over moisturized when I apply the tinted moisturizer. Laura Mercier's line of tinted moisturizers all contain SPF 20; and they come in three different versions - regular, oil-free, and illuminating. With one product, I got my moisturizer, my foundation, and my sun protection. For $42, it's a good deal!
I love the flat tubes because it's easy to store in a makeup bag or purse.
For application of the tinted moisturizer, you can either use a sponge or your finger.
For those of you who still prefer more coverage even in the summer, you can use Laura Mercier's Foundation Powder on top of the tinted moisturizer. I usually only add this if it's a special occasion (Gotta be ready for photos! lol)
