Memorial Day weekend is one of the long weekends I look forward to because it's the unofficial beginning of summer, without it actually being summer yet.  School's out (for most), and if you work in an office like mine, we start "summer" hours, which basically means shortened Fridays (provided that you complete all essential tasks before heading out).

A few weekends ago, I went to Sephora for my complimentary makeover (VIB exclusive).  One of the brands she introduced me to was tarte cosmetics - Amazonian clay 12-hour blush and Park Avenue Princess waterproof bronzer.  Leaving the store, I was already loving the color of the blush and the subtle bronzer shade she used on me.  I was so tempted to buy them right there, but I waited a day to see the effect of its wear throughout the day.

My complimentary Sephora makeover

I was so excited when I received an e-mail from Sephora for a complimentary V.I.B. makeover!  All I had to do was call my local Sephora (Montgomery Mall, Bethesda) to schedule an appointment.  No purchase necessary!  That didn't matter, I still walked out of the store with several purchases.  If you don't know, Sephora does do makeovers everyday all year round (by appointment); however, there is a $50 purchase.  But my makeover was a free May event just for being a V.I.B. member.

Bridesmaids!  I'm looking forward to watching Bridesmaids, which hits theatres May 13th.  The cast of the wedding party includes some of the funniest women on TV, and I'm a huge Judd Apatow fan!  Apatow is the producer of Knocked Up, Superbad, and 40-Year Old Virgin.  And how fitting that the movie is coming out during wedding season!

Baked Kale Chips

For this week's Potpourri Wednesday, I decided to share a recipe I recently tried - Baked Kale Chips.  You might be wondering, how can kale chips be good?  Oh they are.  Gwyneth Paltrow was on the The Ellen Show sometime last week, and she made some on the show to promote her new cookbook My Father's Daughter.  She kept saying that her kids love them.  I remember when I was a kid, the last thing I wanted to eat was vegetables.  So if her kids enjoy eating them, I think at 27 years old, I can too!
